Professional Development: Teaching in Prison (14-07-2016)

A Professional Development day was conducted by Ray Chavez on 14th July, 2016.

Ray instilled in the participants the importance of the role played by education in the rehabilitation of incarcerated people and stressed the highly specific nature of the profession of teaching in prisons.

The links below will take you through some of the discussions and debates of the day.  The various pages also include a number of diversions that you may wish to pursue to give you a broader understanding of the history and philosophy of prison education, as well as the value of it in improving the chances of prisoners returning to their lives outside of the institution.

Education is an absolute necessity in the process of rehabilitation and reintegration.

Start with the 'Introduction' button below and you will be able to navigate through the PD Day using the 'Next Page' buttons at the end of each page.
