NAIDOC Exhibition 2016
The Department of Corrective Services has been involved with NAIDOC week celebrations for many years, and 2016 saw the first of what will become an annual exhibition of art produced by incarcerated Aboriginal prisoners from around Western Australia.
The inaugural exhibition was held in the foyer of South32, an office tower on the corner of St George's Terrace and William Street in Perth.
Twenty-two artists from the Kimberley, Eastern Goldfields, South Coast and the Perth metropolitan region contributed thirty-nine paintings to the show.
A number of works were purchased by private buyers and corporations, with two even finding their way into the prestigious Holmes-a-Court collection.
